One of the things I found very overwhelming was the large amount of items I was told to buy before the baby came. Everyone had a different opinion and I would also see lots of posts on social media. I therefore came up with my own more streamlined list which I have since shared with friends and family. It is okay if you are not fully prepared but I hope this list will provide some help when it comes to preparing for the day you bring your little baby home.
ITEM | |
large items | |
pram | |
car seat |
bedside cot - you don't need a large cot until the baby is 6 months. It is recommended that they sleep next to the bedside for the first 6 months.
Baby chair/ swing |
Changing mat and play mat |
Smaller items | |
2-3 onesies and 2-3 vests
swaddles |
Blankets | |
muslin cloths | |
one pack of nappies (size one)
baby wipes | |
2-3 bottles in case you are unable to breast feed or baby needs formula top ups.
Things for mum |
maternity pads for post delivery |
soothing creams/ pads/ peri-bottle for post delivery - the Frieda mum post partum range is great |
painkillers and laxatives |
nursing bra's |
Nipple cream |
breast pads as you are likely to leak a little bit of milk
