Your skin will also change during pregnancy and may become more sensitive. I would avoid using very hot or cold substances on your skin such as hot wax as you may be more prone to burning.
I would advise using a sunblock to protect your sensitive skin and also to protect against pigmentation which you are more prone to in pregnancy. Mineral sunblocks are safer to use in pregnancy then chemical ones.
There are certain skin care products which you can’t use. You should not use any products containing retinol as these are harmful for the baby.
I would also avoid salicylic acid. Oral salicylic acid is not recommended and although absorption through the skin is minimal, it is best to avoid this whilst pregnant.
Essential oils should also not be used in pregnancy.
The more natural the product, the better it is for your skin.
I would recommend using a moisturizing lotion on your belly to reduce the chances of getting stretch-marks.
Of note, you may develop a black line along the midline of your tummy. This is completely normal is pregnancy and will disappear after the birth of the baby.
The website 15 minute skincare has a list of which products are pregnancy safe! I would always check this before utilizing any over the counter product.
