Just because you are pregnant does not mean that you need to stop exercising. It is very important to remain active.

  • It is very important to strengthen your pelvic floor which is likely to weaken with the pressure from the growing baby. Pelvic floor exercises are easy to do and you can do them whilst at work or watching TV. The Squeezio app is a good resource to download as it helps remind you to do your pelvic floor. The following page demonstrates how to do pelvic floor exercises -Women's pelvic floor muscles | NHS inform

  • Continue to walk as much as you can during pregnancy. The distance you can walk will likely reduce as you progress through your pregnancy.

  • You can sign up for pregnancy yoga or pilates.

  • If you are used to doing weight training you can continue this but be cautious and use lighter weights. I would advise seeking help from a pregnancy qualified trainer to guide you. You should avoid doing any exercises that strain the abdomen.

  • You may find it harder to balance as your tummy gets bigger. Therefore be careful when doing certain exercises such as squats and lunges.
